The data was collected under the MARBEF BIOFUSE long term monitoring program. Each participant of this program is selected 5 shores, chosen to maximise likelihood of differences in diversity (e.g. along gradient of stress - wave exposure, pollution, etc or with different recruitment regimes). Fixed sampling units randomly selected. Size of sampling Atlantic 50 x 50 cm quadrat. 5 quadrats, grid of 25 squares used to give visual estimate to nearest 5 % cover. 2 samples per year (ie every 6 months) for 2 years commencing Winter 2005-6. Taxonomic resolution: best possible resolution achievable non-destructively in the field, including macrofauna (visible to naked eye).

Accredited through the MEDIN partnership, and core-funded by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Scottish Government, DASSH provides tools and services for the long-term curation, management and publication of marine species and habitats data, within the UK and internationally.

This dataset contains data from paleoenvironmental reconstructions from marine sediments from the AWI. These data are derived from PANGAEA.
-
A historical collection of marine species records from Academics at the University of North Wales, Bangor collated from ad-hoc sightings, shore and ship based surveys collated by Ivor Rees.

Pangaea is a digital library for data from earth system research. Data sets include a metadata description with a bibliographic citation, persistently identified using a DOI. The system is open to any project or individual scientist for data archiving and publishing. The system is hosted by AWI and MARUM.
