This dataset contains a list of harpacticoid copepods present in samples taken in Gazi Bay (Kenya) and Zanzibar (Tanzania) during July-August 1996. Samples were taken by snorkeling and a PVC meiofauna core. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Geerinckx, T. (2002). The role of isolation and dispersal in explaining regional diversity patterns: a case-study with harpacticoid copepods in tropical seagrass beds. MSc Thesis. MareLac: Ghent. 35 pp.

Data were collected in the framework of a thesis study. The general aim was to give a detailed inventory of the nematode communities present in the Westerschelde area, based on biomass, diversity and physico-chemical characteristics of the sediment.
-
The general aim of this dataset was to describe and investigate the biodiversity and zonation patterns of nematodes in relation to several abiotic factors.
-
Data on the species and trophic composition of the nematode community in coral degradation zones in Kenya and Zanzibar.
-
Comprehensive picture of total benthic fauna on the Kwintebank in September 1978. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Willems, K.A.; Vanosmael, C.; Claeys, D.; Vincx, M.; Heip, C.H.R. (1981). Macro- and meiobenthos of a sublittoral sandbank in the Southern Bight of the North Sea. Benthos 81/04. Rijksuniversiteit Gent, Laboratorium voor Morfologie en Systematiek der Dieren, Sectie Mariene Biologie: Gent. 27 + annexes pp.

Data gathered during BEWREMABI project sampling campaigns

Density and biomass of meiofauna for 6 sandy beaches (Knokke, Mariakerke, Oostende, Heist, Bredene, Zwin) along the Belgian coast sampled between April 1985 and May 1986. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Jouk, P. (1992). Studie naar de ecologie van de vrijlevende Plathelminthes (Turbellaria) van de zandstranden van de Belgische kust. PhD Thesis. Limburgs Universitair Centrum: Diepenbeek. 2 volumes pp.
-
Biomass and abundance of western Baltic Sea benthic meio and macrofauna (all fauna >6 um sieve). Individual measures of body size, from Bornholm to Lulea. Only from Swedish and Danish waters.
-
The hypothesis that, temporal variation in nematode abundance, community composition and trophic structure is coupled with changes in the quantity and quality of their potential food sources was tested.

Overview of all species (spiders, insects, zoo-and phytoplankton) captured and collected in "Het Zwin" during a 5 day training session in the field. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: (1969). Eerste Licentie Dierkunde: Stage in de Oecologie der Dieren van 9-13 juni 1969 in het Zwin-Reservaat te Knokke. Rijksuniversiteit Gent: Gent. 20 pp.
