The project focuses on understanding the interactions between biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and socio-economic benefits provided by these dynamic ecosystems. As part of this effort, six case pilots were selected to represent diverse coastal wetland types across Europe. These sites encompass a range of ecological conditions, management histories, and socio-environmental contexts, providing a broad basis for assessing wetland functionality and restoration potential. The dataset maps habitats and ecosystem services across these six case studies, offering a detailed spatial representation of: Habitat types present within the selected wetlands, classified according to the standardized European Nature Information System (EUNIS), v2012, and v2021 (terrestrial)/2022 (marine); and Ecosystem services provided by these habitats, according to the Common International Classification of Ecosystem Services (CICES) v5.1. This dataset serves as a crucial resource for scientists, policymakers, and conservation practitioners, enabling evidence-based decision-making in coastal wetland management and restoration.
