Simulated LUCAS Data

The simulated dataset represents synthetic soil attribute data generated to mimic the statistical characteristics of the original LUCAS 2018 dataset for a NUTS2 region. It includes the same soil variables — pH (CaCl₂ and H₂O), electrical conductivity (EC), organic carbon (OC), calcium carbonate (CaCO₃), phosphorus (P), nitrogen (N), and potassium (K) — for each LUCAS land cover class (LC). The mean, standard deviation and correlation structure of these variables were derived from the real dataset, and then multivariate normal sampling was used to create new, realistic values. For each land cover class, a random number of samples between 10 and 20 was simulated, producing a synthetic but statistically consistent soil dataset for an invented NUTS2 region (ZZ99).
