Distribution and abundance of Anadara spp. in the Northern Adriatic Sea
This dataset includes 1,998 records with distribution and abundance information of the invasive species Anadara kagoshimensis and A. transversa. Sample collection occurred at 66 trawling stations located in the Italian waters of the Northern Adriatic Sea within the framework of the SoleMon project (CNR-IRBIM) between 2008 and 2023. The dataset was compiled, harmonised and published within the CNR project USEit - Using operational synergies for the study and integrated management of invasive alien species in Italy.

- Abstract
- Biological invasions represent today one of the greatest threats to global biodiversity, with negative impacts on human health and the economy of our country. The USEit project addresses this problem by involving a number of marine and terrestrial institutes of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). Our main goal is to empower the scientific research on invasive species and to transform this challenge into new opportunities and new growth strategies.

- Distribution and abundance records of Anadara spp. were gathered during the project SoleMon by using trawl surveys with a modified beam trawl (the rapido trawl). The hauls are planned according to a depth-stratified sampling scheme with random allocation of the positions of sampling stations within each stratum. The hauls are performed yearly between October and December during the daylight.
