HR and SR have provided high-frequency data on physical, chemical and biological variables for more than six decades, making them invaluable for studying long-term environmental change in marine systems. Parameters include salinity, temperature, nutrient concentrations, Secchi depth, and plankton community composition and abundance (phytoplankton and zooplankton).<div>HR time series began in 1962 (abiotic and phytoplankton), and mesozooplankton were included from 1974. SR environmental parameters started in 1973, with semi-quantitative micro plankton added in 1987.
