LifeWatch Italy Semantic Platform

The LifeWatch Italy Semantic Platform allows to search and access the LifeWatch Italy resources with the help of semantically enriched queries.

It is based on a main semantic model that describes different resources and their metadata, as well as meaningful links between controlled vocabularies for Biodiversity and Ecosystems domain and resources of LifeWatch Italy.

The platform is powered by a semantic search engine that can be used in two modes: simple or structured.

Description

It is a section of the platform that allows to browse all LifeWatch Italy digital resouces: datasets, observations, services, Virtual Research Environments, Persons and Organizations. It is possible to filter columns, do a quick search into results, change the results per page and navigate to the search results. Clicking on the name of a specific resource, a detail page with all the associated metadata is shown.

Description

It is a powerful mechanism for expressing the user’s request in an incremental way: structured search based on fundamental categories and relations. The structured search allows users that do not know how to write SPARQL queries in order to formulate questions that are more complicated with respect to a simple text-based search.

Description

It allows to access the SPARQL endpoint and formulate new queries, and view pre-formulated queries from other users. Log in is required for this functionality.

Description

It allows to perform three types of annotations: - Dataset Annotation: you can annotate the entire dataset; - Raw Data Annotation: you can annotate the raw data of a dataset, and labelling the type of each column; - Generic Annotation: you can annotate the generic data of a dataset, and labelling the type of each column. Log in and a specific role are required for this functionality.
