Dominant Leaf Type allows users to identify and track changes in the dominant leaf type (i.e., broadleaf, coniferous) of all European tree cover while Forest Type uses the Food and Agriculture Organization’s definition of forests to filter out trees in agricutlural and urban context from the Dominant Leaf Type product. Together, these products are essential for forest management, land use monitoring, and climate change mitigation. The products were initially on a 3-year update cycle, producing reference year 2012 and 2015. From reference year 2018 and onwards the products are produced annually, except Forest Types and change layers which will remain on a 3-year update cycle.
