LUCAS Topsoil Anonymised 2018
This dataset has been created by anonymising the data derived from the LUCAS-Topsoil 2018 dataset. It is intended exclusively for testing and validation purposes within the LUCAS Soil Virtual Research Environment (VRE). It is not suitable for scientific analysis, interpretation, or any attempt to reconstruct the original LUCAS sampling locations or measurements.
To protect confidentiality and prevent the re-identification of sampling locations, several anonymisation procedures have been applied: (1)Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) have been completely removed from the datasets. (2)The original POINT_ID identifiers have been replaced by randomly generated identifiers, which do not preserve any direct link to the original sampling points. (3)The values of the soil attributes have been modified by applying a controlled random perturbation. Specifically, a small amount of multiplicative random noise was added independently to each numeric soil variable. This approach preserves the overall statistical distributions and relationships between variables while preventing the recovery of exact original values. Resulting values were constrained to remain non-negative, as required for soil properties.
