The present historical paper deals with the pelagic Polychaetes except the Tomopterids collected on the cruises of the "Thor", 1908-1910 in the Mediterannenan and adjacent waters. The tables included in this report present also the scientific results from other research vessels such as "Dana" (years 1921 and 1930) and "S/S Pangan" (1911).

A few samples containing Polychaeta were taken with other apparatus, viz.5 samples with ring-trawl 130cm, 200cm and 300cm in diameter; 2 samples with open conical silk-net 100cm in diameter ;one with Nansen's closing net, 50 cm in diameter and finally one with rectangular dredge opening 27x117 cm</para>

At the same time taxon names were cross-checked against the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS); while the original sampling coordinates were plotted using Google Earth in order to double check that they are located in the sea. All data were checked for inconsistencies, both for the range of values, but also compared to other datasets from the same series, collected at the same station. Any problematic records were recorded in a remarks field in the data.</para>
