This is a historical dataset that was published in 1936 by Schellenberg A. and concerns of the faunistic report on the Amphipoda collected during the floristical and faunistical survey of Adolf Steuer on the coasts near Alexandria mainly with the vessel “El Hoot”.

Density of major macrofauna taxa (and families of Amphipoda, Isopoda, Polychaeta and Tanaidacea) and sediment characteristics for 12 sampling sites at Gazi Bay (Kenya) sampled in September 1990. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Polk, P.; Okemwa, E. N. (1993). Dynamics and assessment of Kenyan mangrove ecosystems n° TS2-0240-C (GDF): final report (April 1993). Vrije Universiteit Brussel: Brussel. 244 pp.

Counts on epibenthos and fish species sampled in October 1994 by beam trawling in the mangroves and seagrass beds of Gazi Bay (kenya). Minimum and maximum standard length of fish was measured. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Boone, A. (1996). Epibenthische gemeenschappen in een tropische baai (Gazi Baai, Kenya)= Epibenthic communities in a tropical bay (Gazi Bay, Kenya). MSc Thesis. Universiteit Gent, Faculteit van de wetenschappen, vakgroep biologie: Ghent. 125, appendix pp.

This dataset contains individual counts of fish species sampled in the seagrass beds and mangrove creeks of Gazi Bay (10 locations, 41 species) on 17 and 19 July 1996. Sampling was carried out using a beam trawl (fine mesh: 6mm width). The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Dethier, K. (1997). Epibenthische visgemeenschappen en diversiteit in een tropische baai (Gazi Bay, Kenya)= Epibenthic fish communities and diversity in a tropical bay (Gazi Bay, Kenya). Thesis. Universiteit Gent: Gent. 16 pp.

Benthos density and abiotic data for 12 sampling stations in Gazi Bay. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Schrijvers, J. (1991). Ecological study of the benthos of the mangroves and surrounding beaches at Gazi Bay, Kenya - a summary report. Thesis. Universiteit Gent - Faculteit Wetenschappen, Vakgroep Biologie: Gent. 18, 1 table, 25 figures pp.

The principle aim of this research was to investigate the morphometry of nematode communities as triggered by a phytoplankton spring bloom deposition in a well oxygenated North Sea sampling station. Length and width measurements are available together with densities.

Study on meiobenthos and nematode communities (counts, density, biomass, genus composition) collected in the Arctic Ocean in August and September 1991. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Jivaluk, J. (1993). Comparative study of the meiobenthos in the Arctic region. MSc Thesis. RUG: Gent. 135 pp.

In October 1994, the hyperbenthos of Gazi Bay was sampled at 38 locations using a hyperbenthic sledge to study the diversity of isopods. Sampling (day and night) was conducted in as many different habitats as possible. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: De Bont, R. (1999). Diversiteit van de isopoden van Gazi Bay (Kenia)= Diversity of the isopods of Gazi Bay, Kenya. Thesis. Universiteit Gent: Ghent. 28 pp.
