Zooplankton monitoring in Saltfjorden, Mistfjorden, and Skjerstad Fjord
This long-term monitoring program, active since 1983, focuses on the biannual sampling of zooplankton communities across three Arctic fjords in Norway : Saltfjorden, Mistfjorden, and Skjerstad Fjord. The objective is to track changes in species composition over time. Sampling is conducted twice a year in the water column, reaching depths of approximately 300 meters. It consists of five replicate vertical hauls using 180 μm mesh zooplankton nets at each site. Target taxa include Arthropoda (Crustacea), Mollusca, Chaetognatha, Cnidaria, Pisces, and other groups.
